Hodgkin Lymphoma

Categorization

Hodgkin lymphoma is categorized separately from non-Hodgkin B-cell lymphomas based mainly on their shared morphology and initial lack of understanding of the tumor cell of origin. More recent studies have determined Hodgkin cells to be of germinal center B-cell origin. Hodgkin lymphoma is divided into two different and distinct categories: Nodular Lymphocyte Predominate Hodgkin Lymphoma and Classical Hodgkin Lymphoma.

Hodgkin lymphomas account for approximately 30% of lymphomas diagnosed (8,000 cases annually in the US).
